Internship Experience in UNDP Indonesia
January 9, 2014 to February 21, 2014 · Jakarta, Indonesia
Been meaning to, things just got crazy after the internship ended and I had to pack up and back to routine!
The last week at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia was ended and now that I thought it’d be best to just post some thoughts here 🙂
Feels bad having to leave the place I have worked for about 6 weeks now.
I learned a lot at this big UN agency, not just an Internship, but also on a social level (Getting to know people from various countries and backgrounds that is a really big plus).
The internship I received at UNDP Indonesia was a great experience that I will never forget – what an amazing way to spend my free time from campus 😀
I moved from Bandung out to Jakarta to work in the “Planning Monitoring & Evaluation Unit (PMEU)” at the UNDP Indonesia Country Office (Thamrin Tower, Central Jakarta).
UNDP is one of four UN agencies supporting the implementation of the Global Compact. Through its worldwide network of country offices and its role as the overall coordinator of UN activities at the country level, UNDP holds the primary responsibility for introducing and operationalizing the Global Compact at the field level in developing countries and countries with emerging economies.
My tasks during internship was to provide support to PMEU on UNDP Mid Term Evaluation of Country Programme – Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2011-2015 and project monitoring and evaluation.
I loved being an intern in the UNDP!
Everyone in my unit was so welcoming, supporting and willing to answer any questions that I had, and I was able to help out with them.
During my internship, I was given the amazing opportunity of attending many important meetings/events of UNDP and government of Indonesia. It was great to see materials and practices that I had learned about in there. I was also able to discuss with the speakers about any questions/ideas that I had, and I received great insight from them on topics such as how to best reach impact on community development in Indonesia.
I believe the things that I learned during my Internship will be beneficial to me for many years to come.
As far as my future career goes, I am currently working towards becoming a person who’ll be able to work in International Development sector someday, so it was incredible to be able to have internship in the UNDP. International Development is an issue that interests me greatly and is a personal passion of mine, so it was incredible to just be surrounded by subjects related to Internatioal Development in every single day!
For now, I was very satisfied that I finished my internship in such a good way at such a highly regarded United Nations’ global development network, something that is certainly not for everyone.
I am so incredibly thankful to everyone at UNDP Indonesia for all of their help, their caring attitudes, and welcoming hearts. This internship has taken my goals and passions and enhanced them in a way that has made me even more motivated than before. I cannot thank UNDP Indonesia enough for this life changing experience.
Thank you all for reading my story on this amazing life journey.
“If you have the opportunity to intern somewhere you should definitely take it!” 🙂
